TIKA SIMONE PRESENTS INTIMATE & INTERACTIVE
February 24th, 2011
Intimate & Interactive Open Mic was created to bring a sense of awareness around not only performance art but the art of media training in artists as well. Every headliner has been hand-selected to perform and answer questions from the audience in regards to their push and struggle to the top.
Intimate & Interactive proves that everyone has a story and Toronto has many unknown diamonds in the rough ready to take form.
Couple small delivery flubs in there but overall vibe this guy is coming with shows some good potential for sure. Scott Pilgrim in the background = dope too. This actually came out before the video I posted yesterday (below) so I’m kinda playing catch up with what Spooks has been up to over the past month or so, but whatever…it’s all new to me. Oh yea, and this is over that Asher Roth joint that was mad slept on…yay for Lark Voorhies.

Get familiar son.
The Freedom Writers (Tona,Frankie Payne, Mathematik, Theology 3, Progress, Adam Bomb, and producer Big Sproxx), Toronto, Canada’s collective of Internationally buzzing and locally certified artists continue to bend the parameters of politics, punch lines and a strong penchant for free thought with each sizzling new release. Following up the devastating Adam BombWASTED TALENT video, a song receiving waves of ravenous support from industry tastemakers (Peace magazine, Real Frequency, City on my Back) fellow artists (Michie Mee, D Sisive) and dedicated fans alike.
Following the massive success of the Freedom Writers appearance at the recent Dead Prez concert in Toronto, FW producer and newly minted video director Big Sproxx began to accumulate footage from various interviews, shows and studio sessions. The result is a first hand glimpse into the motivations, origins and energy of one of the most talked about collectives in Canadian Hip Hop history. From appearances supporting the only all female Hip Hop radio show in Canada (Droppin’ Dimez), to live freestyle sessions at Saturday afternoon radio staple Mixtape Massacre, the Freedom Writers maintain a constant community presence building with likeminded grassroots artists and movements. The intense crowd reactions can be seen in all venues as the genuine power of 6 top Emcees forming a union of thought, action and execution is vividly shown throughout. This is a time in history not to be missed.
