Exclaim got the official stream of the most anticipated album in Toronto hip-hop history. Like…you can actually listen to the full Saukrates album right now (it officially drops next week).
By Gregory Adams
Canadian hip-hop pro Saukrates has been releasing tracks off his Season One LP piecemeal since last fall, but the time has finally come for the MC to play all his cards at once and issue the album as a cohesive whole. Next Tuesday (April 24) marks the long-anticipated album’s proper release, and you can stream the whole thing right now here on Exclaim.ca.
As expected, the previously heard, Redman-assisted “Drop It Down” is featured on the album, which marks Saukrates’s first proper full-length effort 1999′s The Underground Tapes, but there are even more collaborations scattered throughout the 17-song Season One. Saukrates teams up with K-os and Nelly Furtado for “On the Run,” while OB O’Brien pops up twice on the collection (“Save the Day” and “Say I”).
“When it calls for collaborations I let that happen naturally,” Saukrates previously said in a statement. “Friends and associates I’ve been anxious to work with and vise versa make it easy to accomplish my ‘lofty’ ideas!”
The Legends League lets off their Look Book for the Spring/Summer 2012 season. The clip also features Rich Kidd (over a Little Dragon joint) performing “Str. Anger”, a single off the line’s upcoming “Naturally Born Strangers” mixtape.
The Legends League (Ideall Clothing) presents their first delivery for S/S 2012. Continuing in the lane of graphic driven pieces, the collection includes more of the brands signature style of visual social commentary through a series of new tees, classic pieces in new colorways and the launch of the new “Colour-Block” 5 panel caps.
The collection in full will be available on April 21st at ideallclothing.com with select items currently available at LiveStock (Toronto & Gastown), NRML (Ottawa), Loop (Waterloo) and TUB (Winnipeg).

Era (Happy belated!) debuts his first full-length project as an artist on Raekwon’s ICEH2O label.
“No Handouts” features appearances from Ayah, Lokz, Shi Wisdom, The Let Up, Mac Miller and Rae + production from Pro Logic, Snaz, Lex Luger, Beat Merchant, 9th Wonder, Tronz, Mark Henry, Burd x Keyz & Rich Kidd.
Congrats to the whole Black Market and ICEH2O team on the release.
Well actually we first caught up with him when he was still going by his real name – Curtis Santiago – and doing his thing with Ivana Santilli, PTRJON (Lets Go To War) and others for the GSUS viral campaign in 2010.
Anyways, he’s working out of Toronto; hails from Vancity; down with Chin; down with Illangelo (who produced this cut); and T.O. writer Dave Morris did a comprehensive piece on him for OKP last week that pretty much covers the who, what, where and why of this dude.

What a great time to be checking for hip-hop in Canada. So many dope projects coming out on the regular and this one is no different. Fresh Kils – who’s arguably the busiest artist out there right now – hooks up with Kitchener emcee/deejay Fraction for “Extra Science”. Definitely got that late 90s boom-bap feel with a 2012 shine. The project also features appearances from The Get By and Mister E.
