Some straight spit from TRA aka Tha Rhyme Animal (would you expect anything less???).
]]>Born and raised in Toronto, Tha Rhyme Animal “T.R.A” developed his passion for hip-hop in the early nineteen eighties, when his older brother Lemont introduced him to the culture. T.R.A. used to watch Lemont spin records in their parents basement for hours on end, making mixtapes and recording demos on a four track recorder. T.R.A. would be captivated by the music and began studying the four founding elements of lyricism, graffiti, dj’ing and break dancing. In this video, TRA spits a hot 24 bars to Grafh’s 2009 banger “So Easy” Feat. Cassidy & Mr. Probz (Production: Veterano) while cruising around the city of Downtown Toronto. This is just a teaser from TRA who is just about ready to release his EP titled “Blunt Trauma” Mid Feb. This video was directed by Lyme Lyte Video.T.R.A is an artist under The SARS Network established in 2003 in the Toronto underground circuit and has sold over 100,000 CD’s independently online and all across Canada.

]]>NewBreedMC Rocks The Galleria C C for his debut video “Jus Rock”, the first single off the critically acclaimed EP The Fresh Water Playlist. Jus Rock is Boom Bap on Crack!
Directed by DJ Finn | Produced by NTG Productions
Lovin’ the push Rae’s putting in to this project man. He def drops some jewels here about the industry and what IceH2o is about too.
When I was preparing for my interview with JD Era and Raekwon, I felt something special is really about to happen with these two teams, (Ice H20 and BMMG). Raekwon has planted the flag in Canada when he set up his Ice H20 office downtown. JD Era being the first signee, you better believe success is the outcome.
You have a very hungry JD Era who has been consistently progressing in his career; the mixtapes, singles, TV appearances on The Score and CBC, you can tell this is only the beginning. So when it was time to do this interview with JD Era and Raekwon, I wanted it to be very clear to the viewers that this is truly history in the making. Not only for JD Era but for Canadian Hip-Hop. Watch this interview and see what happens in the next few years. The Come Up Show proudly presents our interview with JD Era and Raekwon the Chef.

]]>Dope look by the Strombo Show to put on some MCs. Hopefully this is the first edition of many…
]]>Shouts to George Strombolopolous Tonight for putting on some Canadian hip-hop last night. With a vast amount of talent to pick from, the show selected 3 of their favourite GTA based artists to appear on the show. JD Era, Luu Breeze and Peter Jackson were invited to drop a few a capella verses to find out who the best rapper in Toronto is, other than Drake. The topic was brought up by a tweet from Amir Johnson.
Special thanks to HipHopCanada contributor and fam Alex “The Can Con Don” Narvaez (@TheCanConDon) for not only producing the segment but also allowing us the exclusive footage. Let’s see more Canadian hip-hop in the mix George! Watch George Strombolopolous Tonight at 11 p.m. on CBC Monday-Friday. Follow George on Twitter @Strombo. – HHC
Nice interview with Miss Fiona. The MF Life coming later this year! Truth.
]]>Some strong visuals from Puzzle and Big Sproxx. Just another reminder about (i) how messed up society/history is and that (ii) the use of the N-word is still a very controversial issue for blacks and non-blacks alike. Let the conversation continue…
The SARS Network’s “Puzzle” was born January 24, 1984 in Toronto Ontario. Raised in Scarborough, Puzzle was exposed to music early in life. He first started recording songs in the late 90′s, and made his first appearance on the well recognized Toronto mix tape S.A.R.S. Since then he has been featured on every S.A.R.S. mixtape to date.
In this video, Puzzle has some matters he wants to get off his chest!
Being that February is Black History Month, Puzzle felt this song would be appropriate. The reason behind this song was to shed light on the controversial word “Nigger” and how loosely the Caucasian race uses the term. Puzzle believes that if people were informed of the history and true origin of the word, and not from just hip hop itself, “people would be more cautious”.Black people themselves throw the word around in the music. Ultimately, this takes away from the authentic power of the word by empowering the human behind it, as in “reverse psychology”.
Although most Caucasians who use the word, Nigger, do not mean any harm by it… Puzzle feels “the best thing to do is use words that you understand when communicating with certain people”
NIGGER:
a derogatory name for a Black person
a person of any race or origin regarded as contemptible, inferior, ignorant, a victim of prejudice similar to that suffered by blacks; a person who is economically, politically, or socially disenfranchised.
The term NIGGER is now probably the most offensive word in English
The variants neger and negar, derive from the Spanish and Portuguese word negro (black), and from the now-pejorative French nègre (nigger).
In the Colonial America of 1619, John Rolfe used negars in describing the African slaves shipped to the Virginia colony
Produced & Directed by Big Sproxx of Proletarian Music, Puzzle’s Nigga Music is very graphic in the nature to show the viewer the perspective of the word and where it came from.
