Interchangeable Brims for your Fitted?!!

Ty Harper | News | Monday, August 3rd, 2009

Shouts to Famous who brought his boy Benyan by the studio who reps TML which stands for That’s My Lid.

From TML:

“The TML ballcap has a removable brim that allows you to switch it out to fit your personal style. Being able to customize your lid helps you to be unique among many. Individuality in hip hop fashion is just as important as the labels and colors you rock everyday. Your style offers a glimpse to the world about who you are.”

I’m not a hat dude but this is a pretty dope concept. Very fitting.

Drake Statement after re-injuring his leg

rez | News | Sunday, August 2nd, 2009

Straight from OVO:

This bottle of Opus One is low but my spirits are high my friends. I am about 2 hours away from Toronto, CA where I will be spending the next chunk of time recovering from a surgery that I now must have. I embarked on this tour with a torn ACL, MCL, and LCL and due to the events that happened the other night lord only knows what other damage I have done. On the bright side I will begin the reflecting and soul searching that its going to take to make this album and my outfit on the night I fell was crack. I will forever push myself beyond the limits despite advice and recommendations given because even with this new found success I am still the kid who wanted this more than anything in the world. Its funny when I read comments from previous fans who have lost interest because of the radio play and exposure I have. I just want to assure anyone reading that nothing has changed on my end. I refuse to get comfortable, I refuse to fall in line and follow anyone elses formulas. I still work as if So Far Gone had never dropped and I’m still trying to figure out how I’m going to gain entry to this game.

“Missing someone gets easier everyday. Because, even though it is one day further from the last time you saw each other, it is one day closer to the next time you will”

See you soon.

Baatin 1

Every group has that one unique individual that seems to stand apart from the rest and is referenced by fans as the soul and spirit of the collective.

Baatin was that dude.

No official word on the circumstances that lead to his tragic passing but our prayers are with his family and loved ones.

Drake Collapses on stage

rez | News | Saturday, August 1st, 2009

Don’t really know what to say here other than we hope he’s alright. No official word on anything yet but here’s some insight from Miss Info:

My girl Marisa is backstage tonite at the “America’s Most Wanted” show in Camden, New Jersey and just filled me in on the worst-case scenario that just happened onstage : (

According to her and other witnesses, Drake and Lil Wayne were performing “Best I Ever Had” when Drake was moving across the stage and did a spin move…he must have turned his already-injured knee while spinning, because Drake suddenly collapsed on the stage. “He put his head down because he was in so much pain,” and then 4 guys ran out on the stage and had to carry him off. Lil Wayne was left onstage in a state of confusion.

Sources say that Weezy then said to the stunned crowd, “Damn, I knew that n—a’s knee was bad, but I didn’t know it was that bad! I thought he was just in a wheelchair on T.V.” [really?!]

Then Wayne had to keep the show going, so he performed “Mrs. Officer,” with Shanell and T. Streets (normally, Drake performs the song with Wayne.), and then “Every Girl In the World,” again, sans Drake.

Meanwhile, backstage, paramedics cordoned off a section and were examining the injured star.

Now if you recall, just last week, Drake told MTV about his risky decision to still hit the stage on the America’s Most Wanted tour (even with a reduced role), despite warnings from his doctors….

I didn’t really get any approval from my doctor, but I made a personal decision 48 hours ago that I’d be letting a lot of people down if I didn’t show up and at least show them I’m there for them…”
“I’m not doing my own set. That’s one thing I have to apologize to my fans about. It’s too much of a risk, if I hit that wrong turn [doing] 30 minutes every night. If I tear my ACL again, the doctors say I might not be able to walk again. I have to be cautious.”

Drake speaks on B.I.E.H. video backlash

Ty Harper | News | Thursday, July 30th, 2009

I hate these “Region” restrictions for online videos.

There’s a new Drake interview with MTV (U.S.) where he discusses the “Best I Ever Had” video backlash but we can’t watch it here in Canada (MTV.ca step your game up!!!).

The link to read the article is below though!

“I guess one thing I didn’t consider is what the song personally means to a lot of women to those women, I apologize. I do apologize. My intention wasn’t to put anyone down. It was to make them laugh. I wanted people to see something visually different.” – Drake

Death Row Records Opens The Vault

rez | News | Monday, July 27th, 2009

There’s something funny about Death Row now being owned by a Toronto-based company lol. All good. Was wondering what they were gonna do with all the material left over from rap’s biggest empire (as it says in the pic – apparently only 10% of everything they did ever came to market). My guess is that it’s because Dr. Dre was a perfectionist and the other 90% is trash (well, the music at least. I’m sure the video and picture content will be cool to see) but we’ll find out. Here’s the first look at what the company is planning:

TORONTO July 27, 2009 – This, September 1, 2009, WIDEawake Death Row Entertainment will finally open its vault and launch a Special Collector’s Edition of music, video, interview and promotional material entitled The Chronic Re Lit & From The Vault. WIDEawake Death Row Records is giving the fans – unreleased songs from the Death Row vault to celebrate the phenomena of West Coast Rap and honor one of the most influential producers of our time – Dr. Dre.
