I first discovered Sean Leon when one of the authors of Mischief Magazine (@andinfinity) sent me a Youtube link to a song from his first album, Ninelevenne, The Tragedy. Intrigued, we downloaded his first offering and were very impressed. Within the first hour I decided to follow him on Twitter, and asked for an interview about his second album Narcissus, The Drowning Of Ego.

Lets get right into it. How did you manage to make such a great second effort, with the success of the first still being so fresh?

The Tragedy (Ninelevenne) was compiled of a lot of old ideas. It was a project that I had in my mind for a very long time. What was difficult taking those ideas and making them tangible, you know, making them real. I was recording in my mother’s basement when it was available to me, at the time I didn’t have a stable living situation, I was bouncing around from place to place, house to house, I was even homeless at one point. I made Ninelevenne on a 50 dollar laptop that would crash on me 3-4 times a day,  I was doing the best I could with what was available to me. I released it in hopes that someone would see it and would want to help me out and give me the opportunity to make better music. As soon as I dropped it, I got opportunities to be in a studio and I was able to make music with fewer limitations. That’s what Narcissus is. It’s my mind as an audio sound scape. There’s a 10-minute intro. The sounds are so different. It’s new wave, shit you haven’t heard before. It’s literally extracted from my mind, like some inception type shit. Since Narcissus, I’ve been offered more and I’m excited to use these new resources to make even better music and raise my own personal bar. Hopefully make some next level type shit that people can really fuck with.
